Week 78 – WAKE UP FRANKIE

Welcome my HeadBangers, from Helsinki, Finland:

WAKE UP FRANKIE

“Afterlifestyle”

Holy Paska HeadBangers, listen to that Bass, the Guitar, Drums, and did I forget to mention my favorite, OMFG those Growl vocals, just the way I like them…

“Overstatement”

I saw these guys live at the Tuska Festival last year when I was in Finland.  100 bands are chosen from metal bands all over Finland and, after three live shows at the  Tuska-Torstai 2019 competition they took first place.  This meant the band would perform at The Tuska Festival, it is the biggest Metal Festival in Finland.

Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 POS virus Tuska 2020 is cancelled for this summer, it’s the first time in 20 years that it’s not going to be held which is just sad.  But I’m bringing them to you now so let’s get to it.

Let’s look at some bio on these guys:

First let me thank the guys for getting their info to me.  When a band takes time out of their busy schedule to answer questions,  etc.  it shows they care about their fans.  In this way they are making sure the info that I put down here is 100.  Thanks again guys, I really appreciate it.

Wake Up Frankie was formed in Helsinki, Finland in late 2017.  They are unapologetically Old School Thrash and Modern Metal.  Their raging live energy from start to finish with sing along choruses, makes WuF, one you will want to keep your eye and ear on.

Below is part of an article by “KaaosZine 2019”

It’s easy to foresee a big success to Wake up Frankie, if they just keep the whole thing together.  Sing-along shouts that fires up the audience and vocalist that owns the stage and the crowd, creates an image of Thrash metal version of Mötley Crüe, in a good way.  Raging moshpit in the audience is also a sign that the band plays with the right intensity.  When the band is playing their song “Damage Control”, the whole thing is clear.

“Damage Control”

The band is currently working on their debut EP and signed a management deal with Arc Flame Entertainment.

Let’s meet the band:

Kasperi Meriläinen – Vocals

Otto Halli – Guitars, vocals

Vesku Pääkkönen – Guitars, vocals

Dimitris Kavvadas – Bass, vocals

Jari Rantanen – Drums

“Wake up, Frankie!”

My Thoughts:

Well my HeadBangers what do you think?  You know me, seriously, this bunch of hotness, with all this hair, growl vocals to die for, give me a break.  No one has to even ask me what I think, I’m a fan for life.  How can you not appreciate a band where everything works.   I have 3 things I look for in a band, the bass, the drums, and last but not least GROWL VOCALS, the guitars are important also, but it all has to work for it to be great.  When you have a singer that commands the stage, please, hands down it’s a winner.  Kasperi owns that stage, he pulls those vocals out like he’s pulling it from deep in his soul and that my HeadBangers is what makes the difference in a great vocalist and just a singer.  BloodRed Hourglass’s lead man, Jarkko Koukonen and Finntroll’s lead man, Mathias “Vreth” Lillmäns, I have seen both at gigs, those growl vocals, when you see a vocalist on his knees pulling that last vocal out OMG it just gives me the chills to see and hear it.  These are the true growl vocalists.  It is an art form to me, not everyone who does it does it well, we all know that.  I can see nothing but success for WuF.  If you get a chance to see them live do it, you will love it.  They are fire my HeadBangers, just fking fire.

Well that’s it for this week, join me next week for another band and another song.  In the meantime don’t stand to close to the fire if you can’t handle the burn…..
