My HeadBangers this week I’m going through my top 5 Thrash Metal Bands. Who doesn’t like the fast, hard hitting sound of some Thrash, it’s the best wake up call you will get in the morning. So let’s get to it.
Thrash metal (or simply thrash) is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music characterized by its overall aggression and often fast tempo. The songs usually use fast percussive beats and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead guitar work. The lyrical subject matter often deals with criticisms of The Establishment and concern over the destruction of the environment, and at times shares a disdain for Christian dogma resembling that of their black metal counterparts. The language is typically quite direct and denunciatory , an approach borrowed from hardcore punk.
The genre emerged in the early 1980s as musicians began fusing the double bass drumming and complex guitar stylings of the new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) with the speed and aggression of hardcore punk. Philosophically, thrash metal developed as a backlash against both the conservatism of the Reagan era and the much more moderate, pop-influenced and widely accessible heavy metal subgenre of glam metal which also developed concurrently in the 1980s.
1) SMORRAH – From Gelsenkirchen, Germany
“Welcome to your Nightmare”
Smorrah, what can I say about these guys, they were my first contact with a German Thrash Metal Band. They were so helpful getting me any information I need on the band and even translated it to English for me so I could bring it to you. They have a special place in my heart and I love them and their music. They are on the blog, read their story. They are a pure adrenaline rush.
2) TULSADOOM – Vienna, Austria
“Fist From The Grave”
I can never forget these guys, with their evil barbaric heavy thrash. You have to admit they have a great sound and story. They are on the blog check them out.
3) EXECUTIONER – San Antonio, Texas
“Forever 666”
This song just came out in January 2020. They play Hardcore Thrash, they are also on the blog, check them out.
4) RE-ARMED – Kerava, Finland
“Beyond The Horizon”
These guys I have no words for, they just really wake me up. I can’t help it that they are from Finland of course. Finland has such diversity in their metal music, but that’s why it’s the center of the Metal Universe, and no it’s not up for debate.
5) MALICIOUS DEATH – Helsinki, Finland
“Thrash Till Death”
This band was formed in 2002 and is still Thrashing away. They have a lot of music on U tube, check them out. They haven’t been on the blog yet but they will be.
Check out all the bands my HeadBangers. They put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this music. Not to mention energy. Music has a way of bringing people from all corners of this planet together. Enjoy and treasure your music you never know when you will be hearing your last song…………..
