My HeadBangers welcome from Finland the Progressive Metal Band:
FIREPROVEN
Fireproven has been on the blog before, Week 8, and I was just starting since then they have added a frontwoman, so I decided it was time for a total update on this great band. Let’s see what’s new.
“The Addict”
Ok guys you got me, Sanna has a beautiful voice, but I can still here my growl vocals in the background. Well done Fireproven, really well done. Let’s see how Nuutti came up with this song.
The idea for the lyrics came to me after analyzing my daily activities. Where do we draw the line between everyday habits and addiction? Many things have the potential to improve your life, but alternatively might lead you in the wrong direction. It’s always about the perspective and whether you’re working consciously or are driven by impulses. Addiction is often seen as a negative phenomenon, but underneath you might find what your subconscious is trying to tell you. Is there something in the shadows that wants to be seen or heard? The Addict was originally a fully electronic song. We pulled the whole package through a prog metal filter and found ourselves creating something completely new. The song combines synth wave, djent and shamanistic atmosphere which eventually transports the listener to a trance-like state. It feels like the song itself had told us which form it wanted to take.
Let’s look at their new bio:
Fireproven is a progressive metal band from Finland. The band is know for their long, imagery songs as well as their energetic live shows. After almost three years since their debut album, Fireproven is now releasing music with their new vocalist, Sanna Solanterä, who is know for example from this year’s The Voice of Finland singing competition. Guitar player Janne Väätämöinen can now truly focus on his main instrument, though he will continue singing backing vocals.
Fireproven’s first album “Future Diary”, got great scores in multiple reviews, and International Music Video Contest rewarded their music video “Shine” for the best director of photography. The band’s unique sound has already inspired people in Europe and overseas.
“Shine”
I have always loved this song.
My HeadBangers, introducing Sanna Solanterä:
Sanna – how I ended up in Fireproven
I ended up in Fireproven after Nuutti reached for me in November 2019. He said that there will be much more clean vocals in FP’s new songs and Janne wants to focus on his main instrument (guitar). So, he asked if I was interested in becoming their vocalist, and of course I was. Two of the guys were my ex-band mates from a prog rock band ?Verity, and I knew all of them were amazing musicians and great to hang with as well. After a couple of weeks I went in for an audition, and they offered me the job straight away.
I’ve been a member of the band for about a year now, and there’s been a lot going on. Because of the pandemic we haven’t had a chance to perform, and we had to postpone recordings and the video shoot etc. Also, I was in the middle of “The Voice of Finland” fuss, when I joined the band. TVOF didn’t end until two months ago, so I haven’t been able to fully focus on the band before that. But here we are, finally, with the new song and it feels amazing! I can’t wait to start gigs, and make more music with these guys. Also, the boys have been super nice to me from the start, and I already feel like I’m part of the group.
Let’s meet the rest of the band:
Sanna Solanterä – Vocals
Janne Väätämöinen – Guitars and Backing Vocals
Juha Väätämöinen – Bass and Vocals
Ilari Hannula – Keyboards
Nuutti Hannula – Drums
My Thoughts:
There you have it my HeadBangers. I remember when the guys started, I have followed them since 2018. It’s amazing what adding Sanna has done to the sound of their music. She’s added a spark, a fire to the band. A lot of bands are adding frontwomen now and all of them have been for the best. I think it’s the Ying and Yang thing. The sexes add to each other, we bring the best out of each other, in music as you can see and hear. I believe that we will be hearing a lot from Fireproven. Check them out on all their social media. And get ready to hear their fire…..
That’s it for this week my HeadBangers, join me next week for another band and another song. In the meantime don’t stand to close to the fire if you can’t handle burn…..
Please feel free to leave me a comment or question, I appreciate it HeadBangers:
