WEEK 117 – ARTILHARIA

My HeadBangers welcome from Belo Jardim, Pernambuco, Brazil:

ARTILHARIA

“Senta A Pua”

As all my HeadBangers know, I do not believe in translating a song from whatever language to English, it takes something away from the song.  If it were in English I would post it.

Let’s look at some bio on these guys, provided by Edson, the vocalist:

The band was formed in 2011 with the purpose of making a heavy and melodic sound based on traditional heavy metal with nuances of speed and thrash mixed in.  Lyrics are written in Portuguese whose lyrical them revolves around events, wars and historical characters.

In 2014 the debut demo entitled “Tempestade de Aco” was launched and in 2016 the second demo was launched under the name “Batismo pelo Fogo”, both achieved a good regional reach.  In 2017 the band suffered a change in band formation and in the same year it became active again.  In early 2018 the single “Assalto Ao Monte Castelo” was released with a video of the same name that came out in volume 2 of the collection on DVD by Rodie Metal.  Still in 2018 the band stayed inactive and in the beginning of 2020 after a hiatus of two years are back.  We returned with the second single, “Senta A Pua” which also has a video clip.  After more changes in the band they continue.

Let’s meet the band:

From left to right:

Emanuel Moraes – Guitar

Edson Oliver – Vocalist

Jose Emerson “Mercinho” – Guitar

Henmerson Oliveira – Bass and Growl Vocals

Diogenes Santos – Drums

You know how I feel about history in a band.  This band has incorporated history involving a war into their music, here’s what Edson told me:

The song “Senta A Pua”, talks abut the 1st Fighter Aviation Group of the Brazilian Air Force (Fab).  That started its autonomous offensive missions in Italy on November 11, 1944, being one of the most efficient aerial detachments in operation in the Italian theater of the great war and thus helping to defeat the Nazi fascist beast.  “Senta A Pua” was the battle cry of the FAB and means something like getting a bullet and the key word was the code for the attack.

Another interesting fact or two I found out about was:

Belo Jardim a Brazilian municipality in the state of Pernambuco. It has an estimated population in 2020 of 76,687 and a total area of 647.7 km². It is located at 608 meters above the sea level and 182 km away from the state capital, Recife. The economy is based on agribusiness, agriculture, and automotive batteries.

“My Thoughts”

First off, I want to tell the band, how great it is that through all the ups and downs with the band finding the right people, they are still at it.  It takes a lot to go through so many changes and while others may have given up you are still fighting the fight.   I know how hard it is for a band to make it, but remember ALL BANDS started the same way, it’s a matter of how much you put into it and if it is your dream.  I also want to mention that Henmerson Oliveira, and his growl vocals need to used more, that is a great talent and you sound awesome.  The whole band has a great sound, don’t give up and don’t give in, stick to what you believe and it will happen.  I want to play this song for you, the band, listen to it, it says everything…..

One of the best songs to make you remember what is important.

Well that’s it for this week my HeadBangers.  Join me next week for another band and another song.  In the meantime don’t stand to close to the fire if you can’t handle the burn….

Please feel free to leave me a comment or question, I appreciate it HeadBangers:
