My HeadBangers, welcome from Gefle, Sweden the Hard Rock Band with their feet stuck in the 70’s:

VIADUKT

Peter – Vox & Guitar

Tobbe – Guitar

Fredde – Bass

Tom – Drums

Ok my HeadBangers this week is going to be a little different.  I have the best bio on these guys provided to me by Peter.  Actually it was so good I didn’t even have to ask the questions.  There is nothing better to a blogger than someone who will communicate with you, and they are excited to do so.  So let’s listen to a song and then on with the interview.

“Shroom Tripper”

As Peter told me about the bio, “Let’s do the not so short one.”  I love it, I really do.

All four guys have been playing our instruments since childhood (should be better at it after so many years, right?)  We all have played in different bands and constellations for years.  Then life comes in the way with kids, building/renovating houses and other stuff.

About 6 years ago Tobbe, Fredde and Tom started jamming together trying out different singers.  Some quit, some got fired.  About 3 years ago Peter and Tom happened to be at a night of blues jamming in Gefle, Sweden (we never met before then) and they played a couple songs together.  Afterwards Tom said:  Hey you know your heavy blues stuff, our singer quit you wanna come down on Sunday and jam with us?  Come Sunday the singer less trio said:  You’re in, you can’t say no and you can’t quit!!  So low and behold ViadukT was born.

Since all of us grew up on 70’s Hard Rock and Heavy Blues, it’s in our DNA and is where we have our common ground.  Even though the influences come from all around.

We had some gigs comin’ but then Covid hit and you know the rest…  But we finally did our first gig a couple of weeks ago and that went great.  We also have a few more coming.

We recorded 5 original songs a year ago but, did not like the mix we got so Peter got the crazy idea:  I’ll learn this shit and do it myself.  So now the songs are ready for streaming and will be up for listening very soon.

Got a whole bunch of songs that need some finishing touches in the rehearsal space before they’re ready for the studio.  Damn I got a little carried away with this.

No way Peter, the longer the better.  If there is one thing my fellow HeadBangers like it’s about how a band met and started their journey.  Thank you so much for sharing it with me.  But, hey we aren’t done yet so….

All my HeadBangers know exactly what my question is going to be.  The name, how did you come up with that name??

You’re gonna love this one.  It has the same meaning as in english but with the Swedish spelling.  So on coming up with the name.  When Tobbe had got his 15th suggestions for a band name turned down he was a bit frustrated and shouted:  Well what the hell should we be called then?  Viadukt?  And that stuck.  Sounds like a cool old progrock band from the 70’s.  But it’s just…a bridge…  But one could in retrospect say that it is the bridge between 70’s Hard Rock and present day.

Oresund Bridge - Great Attractions (Denmark) - YouTube

Very well said Peter…  For those of you that don’t know a Viadukt is a bridge.  The above:

The Öresund or Øresund Bridge (Danish: Øresundsbroen; Swedish: Öresundsbron; hybrid name: Øresundsbron) is a combined railway and motorway bridge across the Øresund strait between Denmark and Sweden. It is the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe, running nearly 8 kilometers (5 miles) from the Swedish coast to the artificial island Peberholm in the middle of the strait. The crossing is completed by the 4-kilometre (2.5 mi) Drogden Tunnel from Peberholm to the Danish island of Amager.

No HeadBangers Peter is not finished yet:

I can add some stuff about influences.  Tobbe loves Lynyrd Skynyrd and Joe Bonnamassa, Fredde is a big fan of Queensryche and a lot of blues players, Tome like most rock and classic heavy metal and loves slammin’ down those Ian Paice fills on the kit, I am the more extreme metal fan in the band.  I often get “the evil stare” from Tobbe when the riffs get to Thrash Metal.  You can find us on YouTube, we have our own channel with a couple of videos there.  And there’s some songs from our gig up as well.  Just search Viadukt gavle and you will find it.  Watch the middle of “Killing Speed” when Tobbes guitar strap come loose and the performance almost goes to shit.  We had agreed on before the gig, that whatever happens during the show, keep on playing!!  He thought the screw came loose from the guitar, went to get the spare, but realized that it was just the straplock.  Got it back in place just in time for his solo.

Well hell let’s just watch it now:

“Killing Speed”

My Thoughts:

My HeadBangers, I want to share something personal Peter told me:

“You’re doing an amazing work!!  Bringing bands into the “light” and pushing them into more peoples ears.  Much love and respect to you for doing so!!  Not only because of our band but for all bands you put on your blog.   Massive thank you and keep rocking hard!!”

Hopefully he won’t mind that I am sharing this.  Little did he know that for the last 2 weeks I have been thinking that going on year 5 of the blog I might just stop and let it go.  However, Peter’s words and all the information he shared with me really got to me.  It was a no brainer, I have to keep going, it’s my passion.  I found this band and Peter at the exact time I needed them.  Life works out funny that way, but I have always believed people come into your life when you need them, whether they know it or not.  I love bands that share and will take the time from their schedule to give me a small amount of their time.  It means so much to me to be able to share their story directly from them.  You know like I always say we are metal familia always, music brings us together it is the tie that binds us, and I am proud to add one more to our group.  I will keep you updated as they move on and when anything new is coming out.  Once again a big thank you to Peter and the rest of the band.  I appreciate it so much.

Well my HeadBangers that’s it for this week.  Join me next week for another band and another song.  In the meantime don’t stand to close to the fire if you can’t handle the burn…..

Please feel free to leave me a comment or question, I appreciate it HeadBangers:
