WEEK 223 – GREH

My HeadBangers this band grabbed me hard this week.  I counted it,  16 SECONDS into this song and I was there.  Those vocals get me everytime, not to mention the sound.  I love German bands, yeah I know I say that about every country I do.  Yes  I do and why, well if you take enough time to listen to bands from different countries, you will hear that slight difference in each one.  Yes I have my favs, and if you follow the blog you know Germany is one of them.  I was so excited to hear this band I am bringing it today to the blog.  Please welcome from Karlsruhe, Germany:

GREH

“Sanctification”

“Age Of Resentment”

I actually did not have time to ask for an interview because I was so excited.  They have a great bio so we’ll start there.  I will contact them for a follow up interview.  You gotta love this band…

GREH plays a gritty and minimalistic sound played by just one guitar, drums and vocals that manages to create its own character; that combines suffering and heaviness with groove and dissonance.  What once started at 2022 as a one-man DIY project quickly matured into a trio. GREH draws its musical inspiration from a fusion of different metal music styles, combining heavy and rolling guitar sounds with driving and expressive vocals. It’s an infectious sound embedded with dark emotions and anger.  The lyrics deal with the flaw of humanity that leads to false beliefs and celebrates the liberation from this knowledge. This musical brood deals with moral vices such as indifference to those who suffer and the pain that is personally felt as a result. GREH sees itself as a rejection of feigned goodness. This attitude is also reflected in the musical recognition and makes the music a foray into eternal darkness.

OK 3 guys, drums, a guitar, and vocals, how can you not appreciate this sound.   This is the first time I’ve heard of Sludgy Death-Doom Metal, but I am liking what I hear.   It reminds me of some Black Death Metal from the north, but it has it’s own distinct sound.  Can you hear it?  People tell me I have the ear, and I am grateful to all the Gods that I have that gift.  I imagine by now you all know how much this band has gotten to me, you can always tell because I don’t stop typing or talking but WTH even Snake the metal cat loves them, and that’s saying a lot.   Let’s meet this trio:

Gjero – All Instruments (2022-present)

Monne – Drums (2022-present)

Martin – Vocals (2022-present)

HeadBangers that’s all I have on this trio, but I have already contacted them about a follow up interview, so fingers crossed.  That’s it for this week.  Join me Wednesday for Hump Day and next Saturday for the weekly band.  In the meantime don’t stand to close to the fire if you can’t handle the burn…..

Please feel free to leave me a comment or question, I appreciate it HeadBangers:
